Earlier this week despite it being some of the hottest days of the season Kristen & William braved the heat for their engagement session at her Dad’s house at the AMAZING Bridges at Rancho Santa Fe with Joel, and folks it was totally worth it.

We cannot stop looking through the images of this stunning and extremely photogenic couple and can’t not wait to be a part of their wedding this summer at Rancho Las Lomas with lovely Lisa Moon.

The timing of the shoot was fate- as Joel was chatting with Kristen and Will, along with her parents, Joel got to meet a few pups! The first two he encountered were jovial and full of energy- of course Joel got them all excited and even more rambunctious because that’s what Joel does to dogs… and children. A bit of time passed and Joel noticed a third dog slowly joining the party. It was obvious Leilani was old and blind. Joel asked who Gramps was, gave her a bit of love and found out that their love, 17 year old Leilani was to be put down the next day… Joel’s heart sank and gave a lot more love to the old gal. He felt sick for the family as they talked about how long she’s been a part of their lives and how close (especially Dad) was to her. Joel felt their heartache as he imagined losing his own best friend, Lucy. He then proceeded to ask if he could make a few portraits of the old pup and of course take a few shots of her with the family. Joel’s favorite:
